The West Virginia Gap Analysis Project has been completed
as of 2001. WV Gap has mapped predicted distributions for all terrestrial
vertebrate and butterfly species known to occur in the state. The
WV-GAP final report and
datasets are available
over the Internet for download (see links).

As part of this project, we have also compiled simplified known range maps for every species tracked by WV Gap. These maps may be viewed interactively through an internet browser: Link to interactive species maps Land cover mapping is also an integral part of the WV Gap Analysis effort. Aerial videography was flown in order to provide detailed ground-truthing information for land cover mapping from Landsat TM satellite imagery.
